Can thoughts decrease immunity?

“Everyhing in Life is Vibration” , Albert Einstein once said.

The law of nature states everything has a vibration, this is a fact, yet we don't seem to apply this to western health or even our personal lives.

Now we know that energy is a fundamental aspect of all three including body, emotions, and mind.

Energy is what we are made up of, it plays a vital role in staying healthy and balanced. However, I can't seem to get my head around the fact that western health systems and the world's top leading health organizations seem to leave this part out, knowing this plays a major role in every human being’s health. Why? You may ask, that is a good question.

Now doctors know that emotional and mental health is beneath many of the root causes of chronic illness, if not the root cause of most illnesses, yet mental and emotional health is continuously left out of the treatments and healing processes for patients in most western approaches to healing. A study by the health policy institute of Georgetown shows that more than 131 million people and 66 percent of all adults in the United States use prescription drugs. The utilization is particularly high for older people and those with chronic conditions, ( and prescription drugs are indeed costly). It could be assumed that 131 million people in the U.S aren’t digging down to heal themselves and heal the root problem, instead just numbing the recurring symptom.

Most people in america are in fact, are approaching health through this western lense of treatment, without integrating deep alternatives or treating the root cause for each unique individual.

Doctors however are aware of the multidimensional importance of mental, emotional, and physical health, and yet medical systems continue to operate on such a physical layer, where all aspects are not integrated into the healing process, such as mental health and emotional wellness. It is good to take into consideration that big pharma is one of the global multi-billion-dollar businesses, with the global revenue for pharmaceuticals was over $1 trillion in 2014. We can say the drug industry or even doctors could be possibly benefiting from people who are are not aware of outside alternatives.

As we know on March 5th of 2020, Covid-19 struck the world. This pandemic changed millions of lives globally, affecting not only their physical health but their mental and emotional health as well, people did not have a positive mental and emotional response to this virus, which could end up leading to worse problems.

One thing that actually affects and inflicts pressure on your immunity, is watching the news. Now you won’t hear this information on the news, but when we experience a threat, our brain activates the fight or flight response (fear). Consuming the news can activate the sympathetic nervous system, which causes your body to release stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline. When we're stressed, the immune system's ability to fight off antigens is reduced. That is why we are more susceptible to infections. The stress hormone corticosteroid can decrease the effectiveness of the immune system, our immune system is a collection of billions of cells, and some target organs that have the primary job of keeping you healthy, and or while fighting off diseases and viruses. Your thoughts generate emotion in your cells, each cell experiences a wide range of emotions such as sadness, stress, anger and happiness. Now one specific emotion seems to have a detrimental effect on the human body, and that is fear. A research study from the University of Minnesota shows that stress, fear, anxiety, depression, and feelings of isolation directly affect your immunity by decreasing its effectiveness.

While also being able to cause can cause cardiovascular damage, gastrointestinal problems such as ulcers and irritable bowel syndrome, decreased fertility, as well as premature aging. We can see now that thoughts wrap around our cells, so what if the thoughts we are thinking are mostly negative or fear-based? That would not be so good for us would it? We tend to think about 60,000-80,000 thoughts a day, primarily repetitive, and primarily negative. Now, when we add to the concept that your brain, your brain doesn’t know the difference between what you vividly imagine (or worry about).

When you consider that fact, the chances of contracting a virus based on your simple choice of thought increases and the chances of infecting yourself and others. In simple words, the quality of thoughts you experience has an apparent effect on your ability to stay healthy.

A study by Mozy® by EMC stated that 84% of people hold irrational fears in their bodies. It is also fair to consider the rise of anxiety disorders are affecting 40 million adults in the United States alone.

Now, what happens when a pandemic strikes and we are emotionally and mentally unprepared, it means our bodies are unprepared.

We can take this pandemic and its clear effect on people as a lesson, to widen our personal health knowledge.

Our health’s mental and emotional aspects are completely fundamental and non-negotiable for humanity if we want to live healthy lives as a collective. Our lifestyle and food choices have a vast responsibility to do with our everyday health and I wrote an article on improving lifestyle and food choices for a rawer and healthier life > https://www.earththyself.com/post/feeling-better-eating-better-and-treating-mental-health-with-food, however, in this article, I want to focus on how certain emotions and habits have the ability to alter our immunity.

In general, it does not take a large number of efficient studies to simply know that humans are constantly living outside of their bodies and inside their heads, strange but true.

We saw how many people's response to the covid -19 outbreak was extremely fearful and uncertain, and there is a strong guarantee that people’s reactions might have had more power than they would have thought.

I created this article to further spread and bring awareness to the power of the mind, and the fundamental intelligence of human emotional awareness.

Our lack of emotional and mental awareness in our health and medical systems is a tragedy in itself.

Holistic health is a necessary concept that all health and medical systems should include. 95% of all brain activity is unconscious, so it may be that most humans are not taking conscious thoughts words, or actions.

If people took conscious action of their lives, their access to unlocked parts of the brain would widen, increasing the infinite human potential.

It is a vital piece of our health that has been neglected.

I would not be surprised if the honest amount of covid-19 cases were caused by mentally weaken immune systems.

We only see a short and filtered range of health education and global information about health in the mainstream media, and worse censorship has become a problem, making it essential for us to begin to place our health in our own hands, with incredible discernment to be taken when assuming filtered medical information from media.

It is in our hands to take the self-autonomous approach to our health and education.

All life is interconnected and we have known this for a long time. This is the way our natural biological human systems work, and when the public health systems are not set in place to cater to the full spectrum of human health, our ability to heal on all levels is constricted.

Luckily we have the power of choice, and we can choose which thoughts benefit us and which do not.

Just like thoughts can affect us in detrimental ways, they can exuberate our personal lives and others around us.

If there is a perfect time to learn mindfulness, it is now.

There are so many platforms, media channels, and references that are available for us now,

here is just one of them.

The Power of Pause invites you to respond differently right in the moment of reactivity. When you recognize a destabilizing emotion is taking over your system, as in fear or worry, you disengage from his hijack, pause, and observe your reaction from a third person or witnessing point of view, without suppressing, judging, or engaging. Take a few intentional and slow breaths to calm your physiology, and from a grounded space of equilibrium, you will be more able to discern an appropriate response to the immediate circumstance.- physiologytoday.com.

Inevitably our minds have more power over our bodies than we think, how we choose to use that power is our conscious choice.
